PONT Community to Community Development Centre (C2C)

The PONT Community to Community Centre has a commitment to the Millennium Development Goals, a focus on connecting communities and a recognition that indigenous knowledge is key to successful development interventions.

The Centre originally grew out of a volunteer group of Glamorgan academics that support the work of PONT-Mbale in Uganda. In 2010 it was constituted as a Glamorgan University R&D Centre. In this new form, the Centre is engaged with activities in Kenya, Cameroon, Zambia and Botswana as well as Uganda.

Its objectives are:

  • to build a more substantial base to support the work of PONT and other initiatives in East Africa;
  • to engage more broadly with poverty alleviation in Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • to develop a reputation for distinctive, cutting edge research and practice in sustainable community transformation;
  • to develop humanitarian engagement and advocacy in pursuit of the University’s corporate social responsibility mission; and
  • to create an extensive network that accesses research and humanitarian resources on firm theoretical foundations.
